Byron Bay family photography

UNPOSED, UNHURRIED

I have two daughters. I know exactly how long a four-year-old will stand still and smile, and it isn’t long enough to build a session around.

So we don’t. We walk, they run, I follow. Wategos, Balmoral, Bondi, Red Leaf Pool, or the hinterland if you’d rather be away from people.

You’ll get a handful of everyone-looking-at-me frames because grandparents like those, and then a great many more of your children actually being your children. Bring snacks.

Let’s find an hour that suits

Tell me how old everyone is and roughly where you are, and I’ll suggest a time of day that works around naps.

An hour is usually plenty. Long enough to get past the stiff smiles at the start, short enough that nobody melts down before the good bit. Late afternoon tends to work best, and the beach forgives a lot.

You don’t need matching outfits or a plan. Bring the dog, bring the grandparents, let the toddler run – that’s usually where the photographs you’ll actually print come from.

I shoot families across Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and the Northern Rivers, and in Sydney when I’m down. If you’d like a sense of how I work before you book, my approach explains it, and the reviews are other families in their own words.
